Insurance/WSIB Investigations
Since 1982, Bay Area has provided investigations service to the insurance industry, private corporations and government agencies. Accurate, complete, and discreetly gathered information on personal injury is a specialty at Bay Area and accounts a large percentage of our business. We excel at personal injury investigations and have attracted an ever-growing number of satisfied clients over the course of our 22-year history.

Our investigators are trained to conduct background investigations, witness interviews, surveillance and many other key services to aid with an ongoing injury claim or the proceedings of litigation. They are experts in the use of state of the art surveillance equipment and are consistently upgrading their knowledge and skill. Understanding that files of this nature are subject to arbitration and litigation our investigators are prepared to assist with evidence presentation. All information is presented in a comprehensive report complete with surveillance log, still photographs, and video evidence formatted to either VHS or CD.

We are also very cognizant of the fact that time is money and that our clients can be under strenuous timelines; therefore our services are subject to strict procedural methods to insure that your requests are handled in an expedited manor.

Patrol Service & Physical Security
Have you had interruptions to your physical security during non business hours? We can help to protect you from what happens when you’re not there. We provide a patrol service that can be customized to your particular needs. The information provided during our nightly checks is a very cost effective solution for curbing potential problems and hazards that arise. Our patrol vehicle is well marked and equipped with cellular phones and 2-way radios for fast emergency response. Our patrol vehicle is also equipped with a GPS tracking system the allows us to be aware of the location of our office at all times and provides us with a printout of the times and duration of our nightly visits. The following will briefly outline some of things we look for during these checks, such as:

• Upon arrival, the Security Officer will check the surrounding area including parking lots and fence lines. Particular attention is paid to any vehicle or persons in the area.

• A check of the exterior of the building will then be performed. This includes but is not limited to, checking windows, doors, lighting, pipes and employee vehicles (for damage).

• If requested, the Security Officer then performs a check of the interior of the building which consists of checking alarms, office doors, windows, temperature, leaking pipes, equipment or machinery left on, tool crib area and lunch rooms.

• Patrol times are staggered and planned to maintain optimum coverage of those times. Inspection times can be scheduled if certain problems arise.

Reports for each check are completed on site to ensure accurate and detailed information is recorded and provided to our client.


Undercover Operations
Having internal “issues” can disrupt business, lower employee moral, set unwanted standards for other employees, cause unexpected hazards in the workplace and ultimately shrink your bottom line. We can provide you with the information that you need to make a wise business decisions on how to handle and prevent these issues and tighten that bottom line. During an “Undercover Operation” specially selected and trained individuals are temporarily hired as members of the work force. They are mixed into the company in ordinary capacities. They then observe and report on a regular basis solely to their direct supervisor assigned to the case, who then compiles a client-ready report. The report is then submitted to the company’s client contact. Carefully designed precautions safeguard against any possibility of entrapment or violation of federal, provincial or local laws. The net result is an objective and unbiased assessment of employee behaviour, morale and supervisory competence. In the best undercover work, the bad and the good are reported by individuals with the experience and objectivity to find the truth under difficult circumstances.


Labor Dispute Security
During a labour dispute, it is essential to have an objective observer on the picket line. Bay Area Investigations has the resources to assist you if such a situation should arise.

The purpose of Investigators and a Security Coordinator during a labour dispute is to establish a contingency plan, which will effectively deal with any situations that may occur during the dispute. They would implement and monitor the plan to ensure the safety and interests or your company are protected. We are able to provide the safe crossing of persons needing to enter the premises, as well as a professional security presence.

The plan will cover:
1. Analysis of the facility as to the vulnerability of the threats (i.e. sabotage, theft, fire, arson, subversion, etc.)
2. Analysis of previous disputes, the level of security necessary and the occurrences
3. Setting up of security operatives with cameras and video for monitoring of picket lines
4. Coordination of movement of goods with Security Coordinator and management.
5. Implementation, training and monitoring of the security program by the Coordinator for management personnel
6. Reporting to management on a daily basis as to the Coordinator’s findings of that day’s activities
7. Establishment of a central control point by the Coordinator, to provide full view of the main picket area


We will provide:

• Security personnel for key management staff and non-union staff
• Surveillance vans with the latest equipment
• Staff with on-site strike experience to document activity and report to labour board with detailed reports of photograph and video
• Acquisition of warehousing for offsite drops and pick-ups of cargo and goods including perishables

It is imperative that the planning process is implemented as soon as there is an indication that a dispute is not likely to be settled. Once the plan is made, a clearly effective program can be established to prevent, detect and resolve any major occurrence.

Security Risk & Analysis
Bay Area Investigations evaluates a company’s readiness to cope with a host of crises, including natural disaster, fire, bombing, kidnapping, workplace violence and product tampering. Preliminary planning helps to minimize the risk of injury to personnel and the loss of company assets. Our consultants facilitate training and simulation exercises to better prepare management for emergency situations. Emphasis is placed on the prevention and management of such incidents and the company’s ability to quickly resume “normal” business operations – including restoration of information systems – in the wake of these incidents. We have extensive experience in security consultation and, through our partnership with CIGNA International, are able to provide access to insurance policies covering kidnapping, extortion, product tampering, sabotage, workplace violence, and other incidents.
